Wonderful Weekend

We had a mini vacation this weekend and it was definitely needed! With our crazy schedule we don't always realize we need to fully get away and just spend time enjoying one another. Different location and new faces is a great thing once in awhile.

So we headed four hours away to celebrate with my best friends, my niece's 2nd birthday! The weekend was full of laughing, too many sweets, exhausted toddlers, and of course a lot of pictures. We took our time traveling which made such a difference and even stopped by to see Mike's youngest brother at college.

We ate Chipotle for dinner and Kai didn't even make it to the hotel room before crashing. He pretty much had the whole bed to himself with us as barriers on either side so he didn't fall off... As you can see he really enjoyed his sleep (this was nap #2 just in the morning).

We kicked off the birthday extravaganza at the hotel (because hotel parties are always best). We wore party hats - per request of our birthday girl and started off our celebration!

We went to the Downton area, where we enjoyed some local shops and these two were being ridiculously adorable. I will also confess that I never had Chicken and Waffles until this day...I've been missing out on a lot.

The celebration concluded with seeing the live Disney show of Princesses and Pirates: Sophia the First & Jake and the Neverland Pirates. The show was pretty decent, but Kai loved it. Not to mention the strange face masks and complete audio for voice, it wasn't Broadway (but every child cried leaving like it was). He danced and clapped while eating unmentionable amounts of sugar...

We stayed an extra day, because you only live once and life goes on. The last day was bittersweet and our usual photo shoot with everyone. We shared one more breakfast together and said see you soon.

There is something about genuine friendships. I've known these ladies for over a decade and I couldn't have asked for a better handful of women to walk through life with. They've seen me at my worst, fought with me at my craziest, and forgiven me when I've needed it most. Their honesty and love can't be fabricated. Though we don't see each other often enough anymore, the time we do get is so precious and seems to go by too fast. I love that as each of us grow and as our own families grow our kids get to enjoy our friendship as well. I pray for them daily and couldn't imagine who I am today without them. I hope you had a wonderful weekend as well friends.

I love you guys.
