Everyone has something unique that makes them who they are, and this a glimpse of mine. I'm Carmen, the author and heart behind Woven by Grace (previously The Blue Swallow). Married for over five years to my husband Mike who I met in college and living one adventure at a time in youth ministry, motherhood, and as an art teacher. 

My hope for when you're here is that it feels like home with a cup of coffee and a breath of fresh air. My heart has always craved community and genuine relationships. So friend you're important to me and I love to listen to your thoughts, ideas, and your story. That's why I'm passionate about spending time with those closest to me and enjoying the art of branching out to explore the world around me (I'm somewhat of the hermit crab). With two rambunctious boys that keep me on my toes, I share about being a mom, wife, and woman all intertwined and in need of massive doses of grace daily. It's okay to talk about your imperfections, irritable moments, triumphs, and greatest joys - they all are a part of this beautiful tapestry called life.

I love to create and I work best in organized chaos with at least 3-4 projects spread out and glue, paint, and fabric remnants stuck to my fingertips. I couldn't be happier creating and sharing what I love with those around me, yes that includes you! My grandmother was a seamstress, my grandfather a carpenter, and my mother is the most artistically gifted woman I know. They've all taught me something of their trade and instilled in me that same passion to create...to make something unique and with your heart. So I'm always doing just that, well in between nap times and the million other commitments I seem to make but love all the same...

If I'm not chasing our boys, helping plan the next event, rearranging our home, or planning a new lesson plan for my students I'm finding quiet moments to grow and learn. Life throws so many things at you it's nice to take this journey and grow together, that's what I love about this space.
