Even if you don't like creating plans and you want to go off the seam of your pants...you still need a plan. I'm a visual person so I created what I wanted things to look like based off of my inspiration. Despite the fact that some things will be different and I won't be sticking to everything verbatim, at least I have a reference point for each aspect of the party!
Also since we're saving up for me to transition into staying home, we had to have the "BUDGET TALK." I can find at least six other things to do rather than discuss a budget, but nonetheless we are working with $250 for this shin-dig. Yes it's love bug's first birthday and if I could I would have Yo Gabba Gabba, Elmo, AND the Fresh Beat Band come and do a whole day show! Until then, we have $250 to work with! That is the beauty of working with a budget though, all sarcasm aside - it will keep you on your toes and most certainly keep your creative juices flowing (who says that anymore).
Once you have your plan it really will make delegating and asking for help a MILLION times easier! Who is getting balloons? Who is making the favors? Who is picking up the cake? I'll be honest, before baby I would put myself down for every last task on the to-do list! CRAZY...I know!! For someone who already has a hard time asking for help or even receiving a helping hand, I've learned this stops me in my tracks. This is just a sample of how I do things, do what works best for YOU! My memory left me when love bug was born, so I need daily, hourly, okay minute-by-minute reminders on most things. As I show you how I make this happen keep this as a reference and I will see how close I come to the plan.
