Invitations
definitely set the mood and let your guests, friends, and family know
what your theme is! If you don't have the time to make your own, there
are plenty of pre-made ones available at Target, Michaels, Jo-Ann
Fabrics, and just about anywhere. So don't worry the most recent invites
I've seen really are well put together and still look great. I enjoy
making things (as you'll see) so please hand me the scissors, glue,
confetti, whatever you've got - cause I LOVE IT!! This is a design I
came up with and I created my own template based off of several pictures
I found online of Muno. I spent about $30 in supplies (at Michaels).
What you'll need:
- Card stock (I picked up a pack of card-stock in various shades of blue) Measuring 4.5 x 6.5 or whatever size you desire
- Textured Scrap-book paper in blue, red, and a design for the hat
- Opaque white marker
- Felt (for eye) or even the Googly eyes work
- Scissors
- Glue (I love Scotch Brand Glue)
- Stamp (optional) *I found this one in the dollar section!*
Though
I had planned to hand write each invitation, by the second invite I
realized I didn't have the time. So I ended up printing them and I still
love how it came out. I found the fonts on www.dafont.com and they're
very simple to upload on your computer. If you don't have the time or
just aren't a Photoshop wiz, use Microsoft Publisher! I love Publisher
and it is still my go-to for simple projects like this. So once you have
your text/information piece it together. I found mine online from my
inspiration invite and it says (invite can be found on etsy.com):
"Let us sail away and have some fun.. Our birthday boy is turning one"
I
created my own template for Muno's head and hands along with the
sailor's cap. An alternative is just to print the items you want on
card-stock and cut them out and trace what you need.
So
after all is cut out assemble as you see fit. I drew in Muno's teeth
with my marker and used a permanent marker for the smile. He is a fairly
easy character (which is why I chose him, plus he really is the coolest
after Plex). For the water I ended up ripping the paper since it looked
more like water to me that way. You can use decorative scissors or
anything if that doesn't work for you. I cut out a felt circle and added
black paint for the pupil, but Googly eyes are fun too! It really is
up to you!
Be
creative...but DO NOT be afraid! It's just paper and it's just an
invite that you will keep, but most of your guest won't. Have fun with
it, because it is ONE of a KIND! Who knew Muno liked sailing so much ;)
