I love long weekends! They allow for us to be lazy and busy at the same time (I know it sounds contradictory, but it’s a perfect balance). Though summer is coming to a close and I haven’t accepted that Fall is on its way with pumpkin spice lattes and changing leaves, we couldn’t just let summer pass us by. On a whim we ended up heading to the beach for a day and it was the best way to celebrate the end of this season as a family. Sure I got some sand in my eyes and a jellyfish stung my leg (better me than Kai), to see Kai enjoy walking along the beach and hold him as he rested his head to the sounds of the waves was priceless. Sometimes the best moments are unscripted and captured in our hearts.
I didn’t take too many pictures this time around simply because I was so into the moments, but we caught Kai channeling his inner Bay Watch babe look as he modeled for other beach goers and my phone. He is such a ham I love his personality (most days). My favorite part of the weekend was standing in the water holding a very sleepy babe as the waves lulled him to sleep in my arms…I could’ve stayed there for hours honestly.
Though some of my heart’s plans have been pushed back on my timeline, they are perfected in God’s timing. Grace reminds me to not throw too much confetti in the air during a pity party, but rather to sweep up the remnants of what appear to be shortcomings and lack of success to make room for the great things to come. Seizing our life moments not worrying about if it’s Instagram worthy or just right, but remembering that it is okay to keep intimacy where it belongs – with those that I share it with. Yesterday was a breath of fresh air in our busy lives where we are constantly scheduling and I am trying to reshape these shoes of pastor’s wife and being in ministry. Valuing my family and not wishing for more, because I’ll forget the blessing of what I have now. Making sure to finish what I start and thank those that take the time to meet me where I am.
It was a peaceful and wonderful weekend, and a gentle reminder of how beautiful life can be.
